A stern warning from Chatham-Kent Police in the wake of a tragic collision.
Authorities say during the investigation into a Talbot Trail crash that claimed the life of a Tilbury East Township man on Sunday, members of the Traffic Management team issued seven Provincial Offence Notices and gave three warnings to motorists who drove around road closures signs.
Two vehicles collided between Goulet Road and Kendall Road in Raleigh Township. A 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two Windsor residents were also hurt in the crash. A 48-year-old woman was air-lifted to hospital in London for medical treatment, while a 45-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for care.
Officials say some were going as fast as 80 kilometres an hour or higher approaching the scene, putting not only first responders but other motorists and pedestrians at risk.
Moving barricades or driving around road closure signs can have serious consequences, including a $110 fine and three demerit points.
