Going Pink To Fight Breast Cancer

A pair of local hockey teams are hitting the ice to help fight breast cancer this weekend.

Friday, the Dresden Jr Kings are hosting their annual Pink in the Rink night, donning pink jerseys as they take on the Lakeshore Canadiens at Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre. Proceeds from the event will support the oncology department at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Meantime, this coming Sunday, the Chatham Maroons are hosting their own Pink the Rink event at Memorial Arena, teaming up with the Breast Buddies Dragon Boat Team to raise awareness about the fight against breast cancer.

The Maroons will wear special pink jerseys as they take on LaSalle. The sweaters will be autographed by players and auctioned off after the game. A silent auction will also be held. All proceeds will support the Breast Buddies and their mission to promote awareness of a quality of life after a breast cancer diagnosis.
