With one week to go before Remembrance Day, a special tribute is being paid to Canada’s veterans in communities across Chatham-Kent.
A number of crosswalks are being installed in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion, honouring the brave men and women who have fought in defence of peace around the world.
Remembrance crosswalks have already been installed in Chatham and Blenheim, with more coming throughout the municipality in the near future.
Municipal officials say the crosswalks have been paid for through the Hydro One Community Benefit. Specifically the Chatham crosswalk, which is located on Sixth Street in front of the Cenotaph, came from ward funding from Mayor Darrin Canniff and all of the Ward Six councillors. The Blenheim installation, in front of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185, was paid for through Councillor Anthony Ceccacci’s ward funding.
