An annual fundraiser in support of end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent is celebrating its record success.

The sold-out “Handbags for Hospice” event was held at the Everest Convention Centre in Chatham on October 17, raising a record $34,000. All of the funds will go towards providing support to local families receiving care from the Chatham-Kent Hospice.

The event included 12 games of Bingo with designer handbags given out as prizes. Attendees could also enter a raffle that offered 31 additional prizes, along with a Platinum Purse draw for a Michael Kors weekender bag and accessories.

This marked the sixth year for the annual fundraiser, which has now raised a combined total of over $155,000.

Due to the popularity of the event, organizers are already planning the next Handbags for Hospice event for April 24, 2025. Ticket sales will open to the public in February.
