CK Holding Public Meetings On 2025 Draft Budget

Local residents with questions or concerns about Chatham-Kent’s proposed 2025 draft budget will get the chance to provide input during two online community consultation events this week.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent will hold its first public input session on Wednesday. The meeting will be live-streamed on the municipality’s Facebook page from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.

CK staff will present the draft budget at the beginning of the meeting, followed by an opportunity for public input through a live Q&A session.

A second virtual community consultation meeting will also be held on Thursday from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The 2025 update to Chatham-Kent’s 2024-2027 multi-year budget presented to council on November 13 is currently proposing a 5.96 per cent tax increase. This equates to an additional $211 annually for the average household with a home valued at $176,200, or $119 per $100,000 or residential assessment value.

Budget deliberations are set to begin on November 26 and will continue on November 27-28.
