Childs Family Dinner Inches Closer to $400K Mark

A local fundraiser in support of those in need in Wallaceburg has left organizers tired, but grateful.

With close to 600 meals served over the course of the day, the 50th annual Childs Family Dinner at the Black Goose Grill raised just over $13,000 ($13,062) with proceeds being divided between two local organizations.

Spokesperson Mark Childs says $10,000 is being donated to the Wallaceburg Salvation Army, while the remaining $3,062 will support the Wallaceburg Food Pantry, run by the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

Since its inception in 1974, the Childs Family Dinner has raised a total of to $391,959. Organizers are hoping to hit the $400,000 mark next year.
