There’s no end in sight as a strike by staff at Clear Medical Imaging nears the two month mark.

Talks between the company and union broke off on Friday. Officials with Unifor Local 2458 will now apply to the Labour Board for first contract interest arbitration.

The strike began October 25th with workers demanding solutions to wage disparities and the inequitable treatment of administrative and clinical staff.

According to Unifor, the employer showed up to the bargaining table on Friday with no response to the union’s latest offer to settle the strike, and chose to break off talks.

Union officials say they have repeatedly attempted to participate in bargaining, asking the company for a new offer, with the intention of coming to a first collective agreement and ending the ongoing strike.

Unifor Local 2458 represents 120 members at Clear Medical Imaging, who work as X-ray, ultrasound and nuclear medicine technologists, as well as clerical and administrative staff across 11 locations within Chatham, Windsor, Tecumseh, LaSalle, and Essex.
