Salvation Army Falls Short of 2024 Goal

The Chatham-Kent Salvation Army has fallen shy of its 2024 fundraising campaign, but officials are hopeful they can still meet the need in the community.

Major Larry Bridger says in all, the Christmas Campaign brought in $498,000, roughly $52,000 short of their goal.

Much of the money raised through the fundraisers helps to support families with food and toy purchases during the holiday season. The campaigns also support local programs and services, such as local thrift stores and food banks.

Bridger says he knew the 2024 goal was a lofty one, but the organization was trying to be realistic about the perceived needs in the coming year. He says everyone with the Salvation Army expresses their most sincere appreciation to all in our community who have supported this year’s campaign.
