Provincial Police continue to crack down on dangerous drivers on Highway 401, laying not one, but two stunt driving charges in the same day.

Around 11 o’clock the morning of January 5, officers with the Elgin OPP Chatham-Kent Detachment recorded one vehicle going more than 50 kilometres an hour over the limit heading eastbound near Bloomfield Road.

Roughly four hours later, another vehicle was stopped heading west near Harwich Road, also going over 50 kilometres an hour over the limit.

Both drivers, a 25-year-old from Coatsworth and a 22-year-old Oshawa resident have been charged with driving at excessive speed. The second accused is also facing a charge for driving without insurance.

Both vehicles were impounded for 14 days, and the drivers issued 30 day license suspensions.
