Chatham-Kent residents will be freezin’ for a reason this weekend to support thousands of
Special Olympics athletes across the province.

The eighth annual Polar Plunge will return to Sons of Kent Brewing Company on Saturday, with all money raised going to Special Olympics Ontario to fund programming and events for the organization’s 23,000 athletes.

The fundraising goal for this year is $50,000.

The event runs from noon until 6 p.m. and features a full afternoon of events including a live band, a DJ, food trucks, and other entertainment. The main plunge will take place at 4 p.m.

Last year more than 200 people took part in the Polar Plunge, with over $70,000 raised to help organizers host the 2024 School Championship Games being held in Chatham-Kent.
