A Chatham-born Olympian will take centre stage at this weekend’s inaugural Black Youth Expo.

Miranda Ayim, a three-time Olympic basketball player and global ambassador for personal growth and wellness will be taking part in an exclusive Fireside Chat. Ayim will share insights from her journey to the Olympics and beyond, offering practical advice and encouragement to inspire the next generation of leaders.

“Our community is privileged to welcome Miranda Ayim, whose story of perseverance and excellence exemplifies what it means to break barriers and reach new heights,” said Doug Robbins, Co-Chair of the Black Excellence Awards and Black Youth Expo. “Her Fireside Chat will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on our youth and attendees.”

Tomorrow’s Youth Expo will also feature an Authors’ Corner, highlighting celebrated writers Marie Carter, Craig Shreve, Melanie Maure, and others who will share their creative journeys and discuss the importance of storytelling in shaping identity and fostering cultural understanding.

The Black Excellence Awards and Black Youth Expo are dedicated to celebrating and uplifting the achievements of Black individuals across various disciplines, from sports and literature to community service and advocacy. Organizers say this year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience, with opportunities for attendees to connect, learn, and be inspired.

The Black Youth Expo runs from 9am until 4pm at the W.I.S.H. Centre on King Street East in Chatham.
