Elderly Man On Mobility Scooter Struck By Vehicle

An elderly man is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the man was operating a mobility scooter at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and St. Clair Street shortly before 3 p.m. on Saturday when he was struck by a full-size Ford F-150 pick-up truck.

The 74-year-old man who was riding the scooter was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has since been transferred to Windsor Regional Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 41-year-old Thamesville woman, was not injured in the collision.
