Tires will Squeal, Engines will Roar, Mud will Fly!
Smashing up cars has become a familiar and long-lasting tradition on May 2-4 weekend in Dresden.
This year will be no different.
On Sunday, May 19, at 2 pm the tires will squeal, engines will roar, and mud will fly at the Dresden Racetrack.
Two local demolition derby veterans – Kris Stocking and Rob Markovic took over the reigns behind the scenes last year and continue to make the event bigger and better each year. Stocking and Markovic say there is still room for any interested drivers to participate.
“We’ve got cars from all over the local area and stretching across the province,” said Dresden’s Stocking, one of the organizers and the winner of two of the previous five Dresden derbies. “We get surprise entries from the US, some feisty female drivers too and we’ve also got more trophies and prizing than we’ve had in quite some time.”
Classes for this year’s smash ‘em up relay include the popular Pro-Mod Cars with a $2,000 first place purse, Pr-Mod Trucks with $1,000 up for grabs as well as Straight Stock Cars and Trucks, Pro-Minis, a Pro-Mini Team Derby, Straight Stock Powder Puff for the ladies and a Figure 8 Race. All categories come with lucrative purses for the drivers. Prizes will also be dolled out for Hardest Hit, Best Decorated and Longest Tow
The organizing committee is looking to add some additional sponsors this year as well.
