Staff at the Glasshouse Nursery in Chatham are PAWsing to celebrate.

The local garden centre is celebrating its 50th year in business and 50th adoption from the Cat Lounge, a partnership with Pet and Wildlife Rescue.

The lounge includes an enclosed area where guests can sit, relax, and for a small donation, spend time with rescue cats looking for their forever home.

Since opening the Cat Lounge last July, 50 rescued cats and kittens have found loving homes through the space, and donations have helped fund the spaying and neutering of 165 rescued cats.

“Seeing customers bond with these animals and knowing we’re helping them find forever homes has been one of the most rewarding parts of this new venture,” says Spencer Robbins, General operations manager of The Glasshouse Nursery. “It’s been a beautiful reminder of how meaningful small moments can be in the larger story of our business.”

As the Glasshouse Nursery celebrates its 50th anniversary, Robbins says they are proud to continue building spaces that bring people together, whether it’s over a shared love of plants or pets.
