A wave of events will be taking over the Chatham-Kent area in the next few months courtesy of the Together CK Grant Program.

Council voted earlier this month to divvy up $400,000 between 65 grant applicants.

Funding is provided through the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) by way of community host fees from Cascades Casino.

Some notable recipients include Crowfest, Retro Fest, Taste of Chatham-Kent, the Dresden Night Market, and the Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing. These events each received $25,000.

The Wallaceburg Senior Citizens Club Inc. also received around $3,000 in funding for the Wallaceburg Older Adults Health and Wellness Fair.

The grant approvals are usually given out earlier in the year but were delayed due to staff turnover. The Review Committee is made up of members of administration and the community.

The Together CK Municipal Grant Program has supported 401 events and 526 projects over the last 25 years.
