The town of Dresden will soon be much brighter, thanks to a public art project.

A call has been issued for artists, photographers, and illustrators to submit concept proposals for a banner series that will be installed on light poles through the downtown core.

Organizers say the goal is to engage Dresden’s diverse local communities; celebrate the town’s natural, social and built environment; and bring more colour, beauty, pride and enjoyment to the streets and gateways to the community.

In all, 36 banners will be chosen with each successful artist given $50 plus HST for their work.

The deadline for submissions is 4pm on April 30. A shortlist of artists will be notified the week of May 12.
