Teen Slapped With Dangerous Driving Charge For Excessive Speeding

Charges have been laid after police used surveillance cameras to track down a lead-footed driver in Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said an officer was conducting radar on Wheatley Road just before 10 p.m. on Saturday when they clocked a dark-coloured sedan travelling at an excessively high rate of speed.

The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, however, the driver failed to stop and the officer ended the pursuit in the interest of public safety.

Following an investigation that utilized CCTV cameras, officers identified the vehicle and a suspect.

As a result, a 17-year-old youth from Dover Township has been arrested and charged with failing to stop for police, stunt driving and dangerous driving.  The teen was also issued a 30-day license suspension and his vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.
