A Leamington man has been charged after allegedly kicking in the door to a friend’s residence.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to an address on Mary Street in Chatham regarding an unwanted person complaint just after midnight on Thursday.

According to police, a man had attended the residence earlier that night and made unwelcome advances toward a friend, causing discomfort. The man was asked to leave and while initially resisting, he eventually exited the home.

However, a short time later, the man returned and allegedly kicked the door, damaging the locking mechanism, and entering without permission.

As a result, a 44-year-old Leamington man was arrested and is now charged with break-and-enter to commit mischief. He was later released from custody with a court date later this month.
