Extensive upgrades have been made at a catholic elementary school just north of Wallaceburg.
The St Clair Catholic District School Board has released an update on phase two of its renovation project at Sacred Heart in Port Lambton.
Improvements include a redesigned front entrance, a fully renovated main office, and a transformed gymnasium featuring a drop-down stage, new flooring, and upgraded basketball nets. The library, staff room, and three additional classrooms have received new windows, flooring, millwork, and a fresh coat of paint.
Exterior renovations included new brickwork, added insulation to the front and rear of the school, roof repairs, and sealing and painting around the gymnasium. The back play area was also expanded and resurfaced, providing students with more space to connect and engage in outdoor activities.
“This project represents a significant investment into the future of Sacred Heart,” said Director of Education Lisa Demers in a news release. “By enhancing our school facilities, we’re not only meeting the needs of today’s learners but also creating a space where future generations can learn and thrive.”
“The transformation of our school has been amazing,” added Principal Carrie Webb-Coene. “The upgrades have made a huge difference in our learning spaces, and our entire school community is thrilled to see these improvements come to life.”
Officials say the $4.57-million renovation project was funded through the board’s renewal capital funding allocation.
