Police have arrested one person and are looking for another following a string of thefts from retail businesses in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to shoplifting complaints at three retail stores between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on May 8.

Authorities were provided a description of the suspects and learned that they were driving an identifiable rental vehicle that had been linked to all three thefts. The vehicle was later located and stopped by police in Wallaceburg.

As a result, a 36-year-old Windsor man was arrested and is now charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Police are still looking to identify and locate the second suspect. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at (519) 352-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
