A Windsor man is facing charges following a break-and-enter at a Chatham home.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue West for a break-and-enter in progress shortly before 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Authorities were able to identify a suspect through surveillance footage, which showed him breaking into a backyard shed and stealing property before fleeing the scene.

Police located the suspect nearby and he was arrested without incident. The man was also found to be under release conditions prohibiting him from being in Chatham.

The 23-year-old Windsor man is now charged with break-and-enter, possession of stolen property under $5,000, failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with an understanding.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court date set for next week.
