A celebration of resilience and revitalization is coming to the town of Wheatley, nearly four years after a gas explosion rocked the downtown core.
Taking place on Saturday along Talbot Street, Wheatley Waves Forward will celebrate the town’s progress since the August 2021 explosion with live music, a vendor marketplace, family-friendly activities, a beer tent, and a community plant sale.
“This event is more than just a celebration—it’s a milestone,” says Councillor Lauren Anderson in a news release. “We’re not only honouring the past—we’re proudly stepping into the future with gratitude, strength, and vision.”
The event will begin with remarks from dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the Wheatley Recovery Task Force who will unveil a concept design for the downtown core.
The event will run from 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will be free to attend.
