The clock is ticking to help celebrate local residents for their contributions to the arts and cultural sector in Chatham-Kent.

Tonight at 11:59 marks the deadline for submission for this year’s CK Arts and Culture Heroes Wall of Fame, presented by the Chatham-Kent Arts & Culture Network.

“People are amazed when they learn about the world-renowned people who hail from Chatham-Kent,” said CKACN Chair Laurie Langford, in a news release. “Literary luminary Robertson Davies, country superstar Michelle Wright, and Canadian folk icon Sylvia Tyson are three. They’re just the tip of the iceberg – the 35 people on the Arts and Culture Heroes Wall of Fame have shaped this region and Canada’s cultural identity as arts practitioners, teachers, mentors and builders. They’re part of the reason why C-K has a deep and vibrant cultural life, rich with music, visual art, dance, performance, and writers.”

Those chosen by the selection committee will be inducted into one of six artistic categories — dance, literary arts, music, theatre arts, visual arts, and cultural builders. Two legacy nominees will also be selected.

The eight inductees will be honoured during the Arts & Culture Wall of Fame Gala at the Chatham Cultural Centre on October 23.
