A number of local organizations are being given a funding boost to support programs for older adults.

Ontario’s Seniors Community Grant Program helps local not-for-profit community groups and organizations deliver projects, supports, and resources that help adults aged 55 and older to live independently, stay connected to their community, and avoid isolation.

Among the latest recipients is Walpole Island First Nation, which has been granted $25,000 to support elders through wellness activities, cultural teachings, and improved service access. Official say the goal is to enhance emotional health and celebrate seniors through the teachings of the medicine wheel.

The Sydenham Community Curling Club is in line for $24,996 to support shuffleboard, dance, and music programming, fostering community, inclusivity and lasting support, while promoting active, engaging lifestyles.

The Wallaceburg Seniors Citizens’ Club has been given $22,675 for accessible fitness programs at the Oaks Retirement Village, offering tailored classes, self-led options, and social connections to empower seniors in health, independence and community engagement.

The Ridgetown and Area Adult Activity Centre is set to receive $22,600 for a project to keep older adults active through art, fitness, and computer classes, promoting mental and physical health, social connection, and community engagement.

Provincial officials say over 282 community projects have been funded in 2024 and 2025. Since 2018, grants have been handed out to more than 1800 community groups across Ontario.
