An arrest has been made after a violent theft in Blenheim.
Chatham-Kent Police were called to a local business shortly after 6 o’clock Monday evening and say a man sprayed an employee with a noxious substance, then broke into the register, removed an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled the scene.
Authorities say the victim was able to retreat to a secure area in the store and sought medical attention.
Officers were able to identify the suspect using surveillance footage, and just before 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, located and arrested the accused.
The 36-year-old man has now been charged with robbery with violence. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
