Damage is pegged at $200,000 following a structure fire in Chatham.

Crews from stations #1 and #2 responded to a multi-unit property on Grand Avenue East property around 8 o’clock Monday evening and were met by heavy flames coming from building.

Two more fire stations and additional fire fighters were called in to help douse the blaze. Officials say the building suffered heat exposure damage on the west side as well as melted vinyl siding.

Chatham-Kent Police are on scene today, and staff from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office are investigating what sparked the flames.
