Heavy Rain Could Cause Flash Flooding

With heavy rainfall in the forecast, conservation officials are warning of possible flash flooding on roads.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority said 50 mm to 100 mm of rainfall is possible overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, however, due to the isolated and sporadic nature of these thunderstorms, the likelihood of predicting the amount of rainfall for specific locations is low.

High amounts of rainfall in a short period of time can lead to increased runoff and flash flooding, particularly in urban areas.

Area residents are reminded to avoid watercourses, flooded areas, slippery banks and swift-moving water, due to potentially dangerous conditions.
