A Beer Store in Chatham-Kent will be closing its doors for good later this summer.
The Beer Store; which is owned by Molson, Labatt and Sleeman; has announced that another 10 of its Ontario retail locations will be closing on August 24, including the store at 160 Oak St. in Bothwell.
The latest announcement brings the total number of stores closed to more than 70, following the Ford government’s decision in May, 2024 to end its exclusivity agreement with the retailer, and allowing other locations to sell beer, wine and mixed drinks.
As part of an agreement with the Ontario government, at least 300 Beer Store locations must remain open until the end of 2025. As of January 1, 2026, the retailer will be allowed to close as many locations as it chooses.
