It’s time to play ball at Andy Johnston Field in Wallaceburg.
After years of planning and fundraising, a new digital scoreboard has finally been installed at Kinsmen Park and is fully operational.
The scoreboard, which was made possible through funding from the Kinsmen Club, Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame, Ward 5 councillor Aaron Hall, corporate sponsorships, and community donations, was redone in memory of Wallaceburg’s Mike Childs, a community booster and major supporter of minor baseball.
Organizers say the project was delayed due to structural requirements for the frame, but eventually came in under budget, allowing for the restoration of the park’s batting cage as well.
A special dedication ceremony was held at the park yesterday to unveil the new scoreboard and thank those who helped make the project possible.
