Boccia For the Kids Blends Inclusive Competition with Community Spirit

Registration is now open for a unique fundraiser to therapeutic services for children and youth in Chatham-Kent.

The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent is holding a new event, Boccia for the Kids, a one-of-a-kind sporting celebration blending inclusive competition with community spirit.

The tournament will take place Saturday, November 15th at the Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham.

Boccia is a Paralympic precision sport similar to lawn bowling or curling, fully adaptable so players of all abilities can compete side-by-side. Players roll or propel soft leather balls toward a target (the ‘jack’), using ramps or assistive devices as needed.

Organizers say the event celebrates accessibility and joy through sport, while raising critical funds for therapeutic services that support children and families across Chatham-Kent.

“Boccia embodies the spirit of inclusive play – everyone can participate on equal footing. We’re thrilled to bring this to life for our community and raise funds for essential services that help children flourish,” said CTCF President & CEO, Mike Genge in a news release.

Funds raised will support programs not covered by government funding, including social work, therapeutic recreation, and music therapy for the more than 5000 children who receive care each year at the Children’s Treatment Centre.
