A local student is helping to care for the environment.
As part of his school’s Kingdom Assignment, Sam Bechard and his project partner were given $25 to start a small business and raise funds for an organization of their choice.
The pair managed to raise $350 and selected NatureCK, with $181.50 to be donated to advance local conservation initiatives.
Officials with NatureCK say Bechard has already made a significant impact through NatureCK’s Youth Stewardship Program, recording wildlife observations in areas such as Paw Paw Woods, Sycamore Woods, and Peers Wetlands, and contributing valuable data on birds, mammals, insects, and plant life, deepening the community’s understanding of local ecosystems.
“Sam has shown an inspiring level of dedication to conservation and community stewardship. His initiative, generosity, and enthusiasm are a reminder of the impact young people can have in shaping a healthier future for nature in Chatham-Kent,” said NatureCK President Mike Smith in a news release. “We’re proud to support his growth and to see him emerging as a leader among the next generation of naturalists.”
