Returning to his former residence has led to charges for a Chatham-Kent man.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a break-and-enter at a Woods Street home in Chatham at around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, after the property manager discovered that the back door had been damaged.

Authorities searched the home and located a former tenant in the upstairs bedroom.

As a result, a 60-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
