Highway 40 Reopens Following Head On Collision

One person is fighting for their life following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 40.

According to Lambton OPP, emergency crews responded to a head-on crash involving a transport and pick-up truck south of Oil Springs Line shortly before 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the pick-up, a 46-year-old from Welland, was air-lifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the transport was not hurt.

Highway 40 was closed for close to 11 hours between Courtright Line and Bickford Line, reopening around 3am on Friday.

Lambton County OPP, with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team continues to investigate the collision.
