A municipal councillor is speaking up about supportive housing options for Chatham-Kent.

Ward 6 representative Brock McGregor put forth a notice of motion at the August 25 council meeting for administration to bring back to council options to expand current emergency housing availability.

The notice of motion calls for a report that would examine the potential expansion of the tiny cabin project, which opened at the corner of Park Street and Hyslop in Chatham last month. As well, McGregor is hoping to see a review of transitional and supportive housing projects in other Ontario municipalities, and find out how municipally-owned assets could be used to replicate successful models.

The motion is expected to be discussed at council’s next meeting on Monday, September 8.
