An annual fundraiser to help eradicate polio is returning to Chatham-Kent.
The 11th annual Rotary Club of Chatham’s Pizza for Polio event takes place tomorrow as part of the organization’s mission of ridding the world of the crippling childhood disease.
There are nine participating pizzerias in Chatham, including Andy’s Place Family Restaurant & Pizzeria, Godfathers Pizza Chatham, Konstantino’s Pizza and Wings, Mike’s Place, OG Pizza, Oven 360, Pie-Zano’s, Quo Vadis and Steve’s Pizzeria.
All of the restaurants taking part will donate 10% of their sales to eradicating polio around the world.
Since 1985, Rotary has contributed nearly $1.2 billion and countless volunteer hours to the protection of more than two billion children in 122 countries. The disease remains endemic in two countries – Afghanistan and Pakistan — although other countries remain at risk for imported cases.
