
A Wallaceburg man has surrendered to police following a domestic assault that left a woman with injuries.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a woman was assaulted by her male partner at a Wallaceburg residence on Thursday. The man then punched and shattered a glass window in the home’s stairwell before leaving. He later returned to the home and assaulted the victim again.
The 30-year-old Wallaceburg woman required medical attention, however, the severity of her injuries has not been released.
Police were contacted the following day, and a warrant was issued for a 36-year-old Wallaceburg man.
The accused turned himself in at police headquarters shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday. He is now charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault, and mischief under $5,000. He has since been released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
