Suspect In Wheatley Theft Arrested In Windsor

One of two suspects has been arrested in connection with a theft in Wheatley that occurred nearly a year ago.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said two men unlawfully accessed an oil well site in Wheatley on February 12, 2025. The men cut the padlock on an electrical cabinet, causing damage to the internal wiring, and removed items from the property.

Damage was also discovered at a second well site.

Investigators utilized surveillance footage of the incident to identify two suspects, and a warrant was issued for their arrest.

One of the suspects, a 37-year-old Leamington man, was located and arrested by the Windsor Police Service on Tuesday. The accused was transported back to Chatham-Kent and is now charged with mischief under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and theft under $5,000.

Further details about the second suspect have not been released.
