
Cleanup continues with a mess of winter weather blowing across the region.
Schools across Chatham-Kent and Lambton County, along with numerous community organizations, were closed today in the interest of safety due to dangerous road conditions and reduced visibility.
Provincial Police shut down parts of Highway 401 through Chatham-Kent Thursday morning, closing the eastbound lanes at Queens Line and the westbound lanes between Orford Road and Kent Bridge Road.
Over the past 24 hours, Chatham-Kent Police have responded to half a dozen motor vehicle collisions and 10 incidents requiring assistance in which vehicles left the roadway.
Authorities are reminding all drivers to use extra caution in wintery conditions, including allowing extra time to safely reach your destination, maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, and ensuring your vehicle’s lights are on.
