Charges have been laid after a flare gun was fired in a residential area of Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to an address on Wallace Street shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of a weapon being discharged in the area.
Following an investigation, officers learned that a man had fired a flare gun before leaving the area on foot. No injuries were reported.
A suspect was located and arrested at the corner of Murray and Wallace streets. The accused was also under an order prohibiting him from possessing any weapons.
As a result, a 31-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
He was later released from custody with conditions and a February court date.
