Help is now closer at hand for residents across Chatham-Kent.
Municipal officials say automated external defibrillators, or AEDs have now been installed at 40 locations across the community, including arenas, municipal centres, libraries, and pools.
AEDs are used to provide life-saving help to those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. The devices are safe, easy to use, and provide clear, step-by-step voice instructions to guide users through the process until emergency responders arrive.
“Having AEDs readily available in our municipal facilities can make a real difference in an emergency,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff. “This investment is about protecting the health and safety of our residents, visitors, and staff, and ensuring our public spaces are as safe and prepared as possible.”
Officials say the newly added equipment further strengthens public safety and emergency preparedness at facilities that host thousands of visitors and residents each year, making immediate access to emergency equipment all the more important.
