An ongoing dispute between neighbours has ended with criminal charges after one of them armed himself with a machete.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a weapons-related incident on Canal Street West in Tilbury shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Following an investigation, officers learned that a neighbour dispute had escalated when a man damaged a resident’s door while intoxicated and armed with a machete. The man had attempted to gain entry to the home while making threats toward the resident.
As a result, a 42-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and is now charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000, break-and-enter, and assault with a weapon.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
