It could be a dicey day on the roads.

Environment Canada has three yellow alerts in effect, a blowing snow advisory, freezing drizzle advisory, and cold weather warning with wind child values expected to hit -30 Celsius overnight.

School buses in zones 1-8 in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton are cancelled for the day. That includes buses serving the Lambton Kent District School Board, St Clair Catholic District School Board, and Providence French Catholic School Board.

Officials with the weather agency say a low pressure system will push into the region today, bringing as much as 4-8cm of snow to some areas. Strong northwesterly winds will develop behind the low which will lead to widespread blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility.

Roads, walkways, and other surfaces will likely become icy and slippery. Icy surfaces will likely form and could be difficult to detect.

Drivers are reminded to keep emergency supplies in their vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables.
