A Chatham teen has been arrested after allegedly charging at a police officer with a knife.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers on patrol in downtown Chatham spotted a group of individuals causing a disturbance on King Street West at around 9 p.m. on Saturday. The same group had also been involved in another disturbance earlier that same evening.
When police approached, an intoxicated man was seen running in the roadway before jumping fences. The same man later pulled out a knife and allegedly ran at an officer before discarding the weapon.
As a result, a 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested and is now charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held in custody until sober and later released with a March court date.
