
A Chatham man has been arrested, charged with luring a child online.
Investigators with the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit launched an investigation on March 15 into allegations that a man was trying to lure a child under the age of 16 for sexual purposes through various social media platforms.
The accused was arrested without incident five days later and charged with luring a child under 16, luring a child under 18, making sexually explicit material available to a child under 16, making sexually explicit material available to a child under 18, and possession of methamphetamine. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Authorities are working closely with the victim and their family to ensure access to appropriate supports are provided.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police say no further details will be provided at this time.
