Ward 3 (North East Kent)

Ward 3 (North East Kent) – 1 councillor position

Kyle Carter

My name is Kyle Carter, and you may recognize me from around Ward 3. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and share why this community means so much to me.

For the past 15 years, I have proudly called Thamesville home. From the day I arrived, I felt welcomed, supported, and safe. What stood out most was the incredible sense of community and the strong bonds between neighbours—something truly special that I have carried with me ever since. This community means everything to me. I have spent years listening to residents, building relationships, and learning about the issues that matter most to our families, businesses, and rural communities. I believe every voice deserves to be heard, and I am committed to ensuring Ward 3 receives the fair representation, attention, and support it deserves. This is why I’m running for council.

My goals are simple: transparency, accountability, and strong representation for the residents of Ward 3.

I am committed to advocating for the issues that directly impact our communities, including ensuring our rural roads are properly maintained, supporting improvements to our local parks, and exploring public transportation options that better connect residents in Bothwell and Thamesville to the rest of Chatham Kent.

I will continue to protect and strengthen the services and facilities that are important to our communities, including our arena and recreational spaces. I also believe in building strong partnerships with local organizations and community groups, such as the Thamesville Neighbourhood Watch, to help keep our communities safe, connected, and thriving.

As your representative, I will listen, communicate openly, and work hard to ensure residents always know where decisions are being made and how their voices are being heard.

Ward: 3

Why are you running for council?

Over the past 10 years property taxes have increased 4-5% annually at this rate the average person will no longer be able to afford their property taxes.  There has been little to no investment in our rural communities with the majority of investment & spending happening in the City of Chatham.  Our invest/spend formula must consider annual investment in all rural communities.  Finally the current council has not provided clear, simple and transparent communication to the constituents in Ward 3.

What are some important issues you plan to address if elected?

  1. Be the voice of every Ward3 resident pushing for responsible spending, TRANSPARANCY & ACCOUNTABILITY
  2. Ensure fair investment for our rural communities
  • Secure out Ward3 assets (Bothwell Arena, Thamesville Pool & Municiple office/libraries)
  • Small business support (Bothwell Car Show, Threshing Festival & Night markets……….)
  • WARD3 public transit to support our aging/lower income population (Ward3 is the only ward without public transit route to Chatham)
  • Increased rural policing
  • Improve local drainage & flood protections
  • Rural road repairs based on safety & Traffic needs
  1. Challenge Executive Management Team to find opportunities improving operational efficiencies without cuts to service
  2. I will be the Watchdog & advocate against the Unnecessary spending

What skills, experience and talents will you bring to council that will benefit residents of Chatham-Kent?

The years of experience as a Cost Value Engineer & Quality Professional in the Automotive sector has prepared me with the skills & ability to ask difficult questions, investigate into root cause of problems, ultimately finding ways to solve municipal issues in the most cost effect way.  I feel being a 1st time candidate/councillor allows me to bring a “NON-BIASED & FRESH EYES” approach when is comes to investment & spending in our municipality.
