Construction season will be in full swing if council approves a pavement resurfacing tender at Monday’s meeting.
Council will vote on awarding Huron Construction Company (a division of Brennan Paving and Construction Ltd.) the pavement resurfacing tender with their bid of $6,297,429.00 which includes a $700,000 contingency.
In a report being presented to council, 49 roadways across the municipality will be resurfaced which includes repairs to concrete curbs, catch basin adjustments and replacements, driveway and boulevard restoration and the addition of paved shoulders on rural roads and pavement markings. Pavement resurfacing in Tilbury and Wheatley is awarded in a sperate annual contract.
The selected roadways were chosen from an evaluation done in 2023 which gave a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) value to the 1,561 kilometers of paved roads in Chatham-Kent.
The funds will be come from the 2026 capital budget with construction planned to start this summer and fall with a projected completion date of October 30.
