Hockey Stick Used To Smash Window During Assault

Charges have been laid after a man was assaulted with a hockey stick in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the assault in the area of Bourdeau Place and Keil Drive South on Sunday at around 8 p.m. after a man was attacked.

Authorities said a 37-year-old man was in his vehicle on the roadway when he was approached by another man who was carrying a hockey stick. After threatening the victim, the man smashed the window of the vehicle with the hockey stick and attempted to assault the victim.

No injuries were reported.

A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is now charged with uttering threats, mischief, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
