Postal workers across the country have accepted the terms of a new contract.
Canada Post employees, represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, have voted in favour of tentative agreements for both the Urban and Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier bargaining units.
“With the stability of new agreements in place, we look forward to working with our employees and bargaining agents to rebuild the business, restore confidence in the postal system and better serve the country,” said Canada Post President and CEO Doug Ettinger in a statement.
The new collective agreements include a 6.5 per cent wage increase in the first year, followed by a three per cent hike in the second year, and increases matching the annual inflation rate in years three through five.
The parties will soon sign the new five-year collective agreements, which will be in effect until January 31, 2029.
The new deal comes after more than a year of negotiations, multiple strikes, four global offers, mediation, and an Industrial Inquiry Commission. The tentative agreement was reached in late December 2025.
