
A local couple are facing multiple charges following a domestic disturbance in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a Chatham home on Saturday at around 8 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing a man assault a woman.
Officers arrived and found a woman hiding in the home. She also lied to officers about her identity, and following an investigation, it was learned that she had assaulted and threatened to kill her partner.
Both the man and the woman were also under conditions prohibiting them from associating with each other.
As a result, an 18-year-old Chatham-Kent woman and a 26-year-old Chatham man have been charged with assault, failing to comply with an undertaking, and facilitating a breach of an undertaking. The woman was additionally charged with uttering threats to cause death and obstructing a police officer.
The pair were held in custody for a bail hearing.
