The Ontario government has announced millions of dollars worth of new funding to support Chatham-Kent’s hospital.
The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is set to receive $3,529,271 through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) to support infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and repairs.
CKHA will receive another $5,033,200 to support improved operations and reduced wait times at both hospital sites in Chatham and Wallaceburg.
“By supporting our local hospitals, we are investing in healthier communities and a stronger health-care system for families across our region,” said Chatham-Kent Leamington MPP Trevor Jones in a news release.
Specifics on how the funding will be used at CKHA have yet to be released.
Over the next 10 years, Ontario plans to invest around $64 billion in major health infrastructure to create 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance quality care.
